#SkillsForLife District Resources In Sheaf District we have a number of resources available to groups to help enrich the program our leaders work to produce, full details of these resources are below! Use the buttons below to navigate easily to a section of this page. Air Rifle Shooting Air rifle shooting is a great introduction to the sport of shooting. It’s the obvious next step for anyone who’s tried laser games or paintballing. It gives people a chance to learn the basics of safe gun handling, as well as the art of shooting straight. All our equipment is brand new and can be set up at Helmton Hall, your hut or external event. A permission form is required for everyone trying this activitiy, even adults and Leaders. Equipment Kept @: Helmton RoadContact: robert.batley@gmail.com Basic Bouldering Bouldering’s all about climbing small rock formations without using ropes. The short routes (or ‘problems’) aren’t high – climbers move horizontally from one end to another, rather than trying to reach the sky. You don’t need to know anything about knots to enjoy bouldering. This is a small indoor wall, best for Beavers and Cubs.KIT AVAILABLE– Indoor bouldering wall– Varying difficulty routes– Crash matsPERMITS REQUIREDNone, but requires adequate supervision from own Leaders. Equipment Kept @: tbcContact: robert.batley@gmail.com Mini Bus Hire Hiring a mini-bus for an event or activity may be an ideal solution to your groups needs. This can help groups to look within the District instead of hiring from an external company. Please contact Leslie Rochester if you are interested. Equipment Kept @: 74th Oak StreetContact: leslierochester@icloud.com Small Resources The District is no different to a scout group, over many years we have accumulated lots of ‘things’. These range from Slack lines to wheels for pioneering projects, or maybe you’re after some pugil sticks? What we’re trying to say is, if you think there’s something we might have, drop the District team an e-mail. If we don’t have it (and there’s enough demand for it) we’ll look at buying one, or obtaining the funding to buy one! We won’t make any promises, but the District is there to support you, and we believe central resources are at the heart of that.
